Hey there! Sorry to bring this thread from the dead so long after it was solved, but I’m having the exact same problems with the new Alpha 17. Could it be that the mac file was not updated too?

    Kind regards

    Luis

    Thanks!
If put the boulders behind a door on the side of the corridor will the trap be activated when the enemy passes by it or do they have to try to open the door? will they try to open it if it leads nowhere?

I was in touch with GOG a while ago, but they kind of ignored me. It's not a website for early access games anyway. I'm sure they're more likely to include KeeperRL when 1.0 comes out – which will take a while.

Indeed I've never seen early access over there, but if 1.0 can be made available when it happens, I believe it would be a great idea. Not only for the site itself, but the people who buy things there tend to be more appreciative of your kind of game  🙂

How long do you think before 1.0? Not that I'm in a hurry, after all I play Dwarf Fortress and Unreal World, so I'm pretty comfortable with the “20+ years to completion”, lol

Thank you for such a quick and complete reply!

Yes, I'm aware of the music in the paid version, I just missed it, is all hahaha. But now that I know that I can switch to ascii in it I will probably purchase a copy sooner. Nothing agains your art, mind you, I just think that static sprites are less convincing that characters (whose details I see perfectly in my mind). Also I think many of the creature are too cute for a diabolic kind of dungeon, though that is my taste alone.

Good to know that FPS will be better soon!

Yes I had noticed the underlined letters for some options, but to me it is weird to be able to quickly choose some and not others.

About the gold, I was watching Nat20's videos and it seems that the amount of gold keeps you on the move and on edge the whole time, which is perfect for the Roguelike aspect of the whole thing, so it's fine by me. It's still unclear what makes the amount to be paid to get so high. Is is only affected by the number and type of minions or do their activities affect it as well. In dungeon keeper you spend tons of money to train the creatures, does that happen in some way in Keeper RL?

Sorry about the stupid question about rallying minions. I hadn't noticed that feature and saw Nat20 using it frequently. If I had done it earlier I would have known more about the game.

Ok, I will send you a save in case something like that happens. How can I do that? Where is the file and where should I send it to?

About the boulders, you actually can move through it without problems in Dungeon Keeper (I know that because I have purchased it on GOG and have been playing it for the past few weeks again). It makes sense for it to be an obstacle, but it also makes sense for it to be hidden. First because of practical issues, second because it's supposed to be a trap and a boulder in the middle of a corridor is not very inconspicuous.

    Thanks again!

I really think this game should be on GOG as well. They have a much better customer service and platform (I hate depending on the Steam client to do stuff, it is a really heavy program). I would certainly buy it through there.

So, yeah, it went great, I finally was able to play a couple of games (actually, 6). I will post my opinions on a more suited thread, though.
Thanks for all the help, THE GAME IS AWESOME, really.

That's strange. Did you run it using the keeper.command script? Cause the error you pasted happens when you run Frameworks/keeper_mac directly from that directory.

Oh, I had no idea I was supposed to use that file! Since I did the same with the other download and you did mention that I though I had to choose the executable for my platform (since there is mac, linux, etc).
I opened it with the keeper.mac this time. It stood sending messages like it was trying to boot or install the program, and it just stopped. I seemed that nothing was going to happen but I waited for some 20 minutes to be sure. When I decided to close the terminal I discovered the game had opened in a separate window but stayed behind everything, lol. So yeah, it seems to work now!

    Thanks!
    😀

Sorry, I think I failed to update the free version  >:(

Could you please try this one?

Oh, so you've forgotten about us poor people huh?
Hehe, just joking. I actually plan on buying the “normal” version as soon as it is complete (and preferably on some other place besides Steam). I personally prefer Ascii, and the idea of playing a Dungeon Keeper style game in Ascii makes my heart race!
But alas, the file you sent me bring the same result:

      Referenced from: /Users/lhlf/Desktop/Jogos/Roguelike/Unfinished/keeperRL_alpha12_free/Frameworks/keeper_mac

I hope we can find a solution  :-

    I'm having a similar problem…

I have downloaded the game yesterday, so redownloading it wouldn't do much good I guess.
I'm running it on a Mac Mini with Mavericks.

I would appreciate if you could help me, I'm really excited about this game!

    Best

    Luís
