KeeperRL alpha16 hotfix

Most of the known bugs in Alpha16 have been fixed, so it’s time to release an update to the standalone version of KeeperRL. If you’ve bought the standalone version, you can download the patch from your personal itch.io or Humble Store link (Humble will probably update the build on Monday) . Steam users have already received all of the fixes through auto-updates.

  • Fixed a crash involving a dead succubus trying to give birth.
  • Limited highscores to a hundred in each category.
  • Corrected the number of killed adventurers in online maps.
  • Prevented creatures from being stuck in elementalist tower by swapping places with another creature when entering a level that’s already full.
  • Fixed a crash involving chasing an enemy that just entered another level.
  • Faster and more reliable world generation.
  • Fixed crash when a creature bleeds out and is killed by sunlight in the same turn.
  • Fixed level generation seeding.
  • Fixed accidental scrolling with alt+letter in WASD mode.
  • Fixed crash when giving items to a shopkeeper.
  • Fixed dead creature handling crash.
  • Fixed two crashes involving switching levels.

    Lots of good bug fixes. Everybody likes a game that you can enjoy without being interrupted by crashes. 🙂

    I crashed on the day alpha 16 was released. Haven't played since then… now i feel like getting back in the game!

    You might have a save file, which is a recovery of your game. You may even get to go back in time a few moves and do things differently 😉

    Only taking the top 100 online scores makes good sense.

    The fastest win score is cool.

    To be honest I got the highest adventurer and highest keeper high scores by farming dungeons and farming invaders. In the next version, you could also remove the scores that took over 50k turns. This would put a time limit on the farming. Leaving the game running overnight with the space key glued down to dismiss warnings about invaders should not really count 😉

    Also games that have been reloaded from an auto-saved recovery file could be removed from the high score sheet. My logic is that there is an “impure” time-line. What I mean is the player has gone back to a previous point in time and replayed moves differently. Obviously we are far to noble to want fame and glory at the expense of deception.
